Psychedelics and Madness: Breathwork Day For Survivors, Family Members, Clinicians, and the Community
930-5pm April 12,2019 (The Center SF) Scholarships available, please contact us A community circle creates an experiential space for dialogue and trust-building. Through powerful music and safe rhythmic breathing, breathwork* evokes non-ordinary states of consciousness for emotional expression, physical release, and healing. Our community gathering opens us spiritually, supports strong expression and release during the breathing, and brings our learning back through mandala drawing and deep sharing. Breathwork is a parallel experience to psychedelic medicine circles, is used to trained psychedelic guides, and shares many overall structures with psychedelic ceremony. This event will be limited to 30 breathers, but all conference participants are encouraged to attend as compassionate witnesses to support the breathers. Being a supporter is a powerful way to participate. We welcome trauma survivors and people who have experienced extreme states labeled psychosis and mania. Family members, clinicians, allies, and the community are also invited. We ask that everyone interested consult with your support communities for guidance around participating: is the time right for this powerful experience, which can be a stressful ordeal needing time and space for integration" Is it a better fit to attend as a compassionate supporter and witness? Contact us to discuss any questions or concerns. This event will be led by Nita Gage, a student of R.D. Laing and a counselor, coach, and facilitator of transformational work for over 20 years. She is the author of Soul Whispering: The Art of Awakening Shamanic Consciousness. *Inspired by Dr. Stanislav Grof's Holotropic Breathwork®, Shamanic Breathwork® was developed by Dr. Linda Star Wolf; it is a gentler form of breathwork that allows for more control by the breather and more time for sharing and integration.
